Greetings! We've setup this fund for the 2013 Black Marlin Flood Benefit.

Our Friends at Black Marlin endured some difficult times the week of August 18 in Manila.  Heavy monsoon rains enhanced by Tropical Storm Trami deluged Metro Manila with almost 2 feet of rain in a 24 hour period. This resulted in a situation where a number of our staff had to be rescued from rooftops or evacuated from their homes. At least 6 staff had their homes flooded and/or filled with mud to some degree. There were a number of others that were affected to a lessor degree.

Resources from this benefit will be used to help those individuals employed by Black Marlin who were affected in a devastating way. We hope you are able to help these great friends get back on their feet.

This is a very short campaign that will end on August 31. All money will be sent directly to Marlon Morales and Imee Austin to distribute to those most affected. Since they are on the ground, they will be able to most fairly determine what kind of help will do the most good. We will be asking Marlon for a reconciliation of the funds once distributed.

As an FYI, We plan to offset all PayPal transaction fees as well as currency conversion fees as the money is sent over. This fund is not a charity organization, just friends  helping friends. You should not expect that any of your donation will be tax deductible unless you are in a very unusual circumstance.

We will provide updates nightly regarding the total amount collected. Those updates will happen sometime between 9:00 pm and 11:00 pm Eastern Time.

All donations will remain anonymous as much as possible. It is obvious we will see the donations as they come through the PayPal account, however donor lists will not be shared with anyone except to verify and reconcile funds received. The money will be sent over from All Employees.

Please share with fellow co-workers, we do not plan on sending out a mass email to all employees to notify them about this fund. As we said, there is a very short window on this campaign. After the fundraising is over, this blog will remain open and we will post any and all words of encouragement and words of thanks received.

If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to send me an email or post a comment here that can be replied to.
